About R.I.T.M.O. and the RETREAT
R.I.T.M.O. is a holistic approach to rhythm and a methodology, created and envisioned by colombian percussionist Túpac Mantilla, based on the use of the body as our main evolutionary instrument, with the intention to enter Rhythmic Flow through contents around body percussion and body rhythm, and to open a space that develops the individual creativity and personal voice through multidimensional experiences.
R.I.T.M.O. uses flow to learn complex patterns and to create longterm memory and complex movement integration. It trains coordination and motor skills through gradual multilayered exercises that combine different rhythmic levels in the feet, hands and the voice at the same time, followed by periods of cognitive integration through relaxation. It invites to explore movement through the perspective of rhythm and to experience a wide range of collective activities from basic to complex rhythmic structures and polyrhythms.
About the RETREAT format in Perú / Machu -Picchu
The activities during a R.I.T.M.O. Retreat are organized in a way that you can customize your own personal experience based on your particular interests. Choose from different practice sets that focus on body awareness, grounding, rhythmic meditations, body percussion technique and tools, grooves, polyrhythms, voice and movement journeys, brain activation, as well as discussions and talks around the scientific research and pedagogic methodology that supports the R.I.T.M.O. process.

For this particular Retreat, the plan for the group is to travel through Perú in a south-east journey that will begin in Lima (on August 1st, 2025), and continue to Cusco (Sacred Valley), Aguas Calientes (Machu-Picchu area), ending in Puno (Lake Titicaca area), to return back to Lima on August 12th, 2025.
The dynamic of the experience will involve close contact with nature, excursions, ceremonies and rituals with nature's elements, around which Túpac will offer unique R.I.T.M.O. journeys and activities, created and crafted specifically for this specific Retreat, including Breath-work, Ritmantras, Bio-rhythm tools, Rhythmic meditations, South American Grooves, Rhythms and Dance, Shamanic-Theta Drumming, among others.

​Additionally, another aspect of the trip is to have as many opportunities as possible to interact with local people and 'maestros' from the four different locations the journey will take place in, and to be able to enjoy the cultural interexchange each region has to offer, for which special encounters will be arranged.​
The whole group will travel together and stay together from day 1 until the end (upon the international arrival in Lima of all the participants in the morning or early afternoon on August 1st, 2025). Local transportation will be arranged (including national flights, trains and a bus just for the group). The only moment in which the group will split, will be during the Ayahuasca Ceremony (arranged for the people interested in having this experience).

The whole journey will be guided by Raúl Galiano Inga, a local and officially certified tourism guide from Cusco, who has 15+ years of experience (also with groups from around the world), and who personally guided Túpac in 2023, for his first Machu-Picchu experience. Together, along with the support of people from their teams, both Raúl and Túpac have envisioned a rhythmic and life experience like no other to be lived in one of the most iconic and special wonders of the world!

The main languages of the retreat will be English and Spanish, but translations into German will be provided if necessary.

TOTAL BASE PRICE WITHOUT EXTRAS*
The fee includes: All accommodations in double-room occupation in 3.5 star International Tourism Hotels, all the travel costs of national and local trips in Perú for the whole time (including national flights Lima-Cusco / Puno-Lima), 3 time a day meals (choice of vegetarian menu/meals as well) for the 12 days (except for 3 days where people must cover one of the meals), all entries to national parks/attractions and experiences with local people, all R.I.T.M.O. activities and sessions and any material necessary, all guided tours.
The Fee DOES NOT include: International Flights to and from LIMA, individual travel insurance, Ayahuasca Ceremony fee, special dietary extras, additional hotel expenses/extras, tips.

Registration
Due to the international quality of this Retreat and the broader R.I.T.M.O. Community to which it is being offered, the registration process must be done in an individual one-one-one basis, in order for our team to deal properly with matters related to country of origin, currency, language and logistics.
People interested in joining the experience should start by filling in a Pre-registration form, which can be accessed in the button bellow. Our team will follow up directly with the interested participants, once the initial information is received.
The registration process has 3 stages: Pre-registration, Specific Information contact form and Confirmation of participation.
Once the confirmation of participation is granted to each participant, all related traveling details for the journey can be arranged. A participation agreement to be signed and returned will be given to each person along with all the payment/registration details to be finalized during a specific timeframe.

About Túpac's Experience
Túpac Mantilla holds degrees in classical, world and Indian percussion studies from Javeriana University (Bogotá, Colombia), the New England Conservatory (Boston, U.S.A.) and Harvard University (Cambridge, U.S.A.). His performance activity includes regular appearances at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Kennedy Center, as well as festivals such as Montreux, Newport and North Sea Jazz, and collaborations with artists like Bobby McFerrin, Esperanza Spalding, Zakir Hussain, and Julian Lage, with whom he was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for best contemporary Jazz Album.
He regularly teaches and gives lectures at institutions such as Stanford University, New York University, Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory. In 2012 he founded PERCUACTION (www.percuaction.com), an organization that develops and runs rhythm oriented artistic and social programs around the world, through an innovative rhythm curriculum, which in 2020 surpassed a teaching coverage in Colombia of 200.000 children. He is the founder of the Youth Education Program at the Panama Jazz Festival and the director of the World Rhythm Program at the Stanford Jazz Workshop and in 2020 he joined the Faculty at the Summer Educators Program at Carnegie Hall.
